I can’t seem to register. What’s going on?
It may be that you don't have cookies enabled on your browser. Here are some instructions for addressing this: http://www.google.com/cookies.html Another possibility: You're entering information that is too long. If you're getting an error message like, “String or binary data would be truncated” when you try to register, try a shorter username.
I register, then try to post a message and am told my username can't be found. But when I try to re-register, I'm told my info is already in use. What's going on?
You didn't complete the registration process. When you sign up, we send you an e-mail to verify that you're using a legitimate address. You have to click on the link in that e-mail in order to complete the registration process and begin posting. If you can't find the e-mail in your inbox, check your spam or junk mail folder. Sometimes it lands there.
If it's been a while since you signed up and the e-mail is nowhere to be found, e-mail editor@momsmiami.com with the approximate date that you signed up, and the e-mail address you used on our registration form.
Now I want to correct the mailing address I supplied at registration. How do I do that?
On any page of the site, click on “My Profile” in the upper right-hand corner. This takes you to your profile, where you can then click on “Settings” and change your address.
How do I add copy to my profile and change my avatar?
Log-in and then click on "My Profile" in the upper right-hand corner. This takes you to your profile, where you can then click on "Settings" to access the control panel. Once at the control panel, click on "Profile." You can edit your profile information on that screen. To edit your avatar, click on "Edit Avatar." You have the option of uploading your own avatar (90x90 in size) or choose one from our gallery.
Using the mom2mom forums
How do I search the forums to see if my topic has been mentioned before?
If you're on the “mom2mom” forum page listing all the forums, click on “Search MomsMiami.com…” at the top of the page. If you're in a particular forum, click on “search this forum” at the upper left.
Can I look up other posts made by a particular user?
Yes, click on the person's username anywhere in the forums.
I want to change something in one of my posts. Can I go back and fix it?
Yes. Click on the “edit” icon to the right of your post.
I entered a forum topic and saved it instead of submitting it. Now I want to go back to finish it, but where can I find my draft?
Login. Go to "My Profile," then "Settings." This will access your control panel. Click on "Manage Drafts" under the "Overview" section.
What are the forum rules?
MomsMiami.com gives you the chance to be heard and participate in discussions. Members are asked to abide by the following guidelines:
- You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where "momsmiami.com" is hosted or International Law.
- Treat others with respect. Anonymity offers the opportunity to say things one might not say face to face. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't say it in your post.
- Posts that are threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, profane, contain hate speech or degrade others on the basis of gender, race, class, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual preference or disability will be removed.
- Stay on point. Off-topic posts will be deleted.
- Post only your thoughts. Comments containing copyrighted material - i.e. news stories from other sources -- will be removed. (You can post links to other news sources).
- Help us monitor discussions. Don't respond to posts that violate the rules by repeating the language used in the original comment or your comment also may be deleted. Alert us to abuses by clicking on the "report" link.
- Do not advertise products or businesses in the forums. Such posts will be removed. If you run a home-based business, you may post about it once a year in the Home-based Business category. You may post events -- once per event -- in the Local Events forum. You may include a link to your website in your signature.
- Post each comment only once and only in one category. Duplicate posts will be removed.
