Mom2Mom Business Workshop

Postby CharPacenti on Mon Oct 12, 2009 7:20 pm

Calling all momtrepreneurs!

Mark your calendars for Nov. 3. MomsMiami is bringing you a great workshop to help you succeed in business. Whether you're selling Mary Kay from home, launching a website or engaged in any other venture, we want to help you succeed.

The Mom2Mom Business Workshop is set for 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the Jungle Island ballroom.

Find the tools you need to create, market and promote your products and ideas. You'll hear from moms who are succeeding and community resources that can help. Marla Brock, founder of PlanetZee.com and assistant director of The Launch Pad at the University of Miami, and Misha Kurlya-Gomez of Misha's Cupcakes will share their advice. Lisa Sparks of Constant Contact will provide you with best practices for email marketing for your growing business.

The workshop is free. Register your spot here.

The event will also include a Momtrepreneur Showcase and Sale. If you'd like to show off your business, give away samples, register new users or sell your products, contact us to reserve a table at 305-376-4668.

Can't wait to see you all there.

I already RSVP'd for the Workshop and I am so looking forward to finally making it OUT to an event and mingling with all the other Moms and getting/exchanging marketing ideas with the momtrepreneurs! :P

I also invited some other women/moms who were looking for something just like this to exhibit and market their business (so the organizer of this event should be getting some calls from them directly to request table/booth space) :!:
Happy all-the-days because a CHANGE has come!

Karina,
If you can get away from your job for a couple of hours, come to this event. That's what it's all about. The best way to have flexibility is to work for yourself. And with today's technology, there are a lot of tools and resources out there that make it easier than in the past. You will get a lot of good information -- and hopefully some inspiration -- from our line-up of speakers. Marla and Misha are moms who have been there.

I hope you can make it.

As this is Women in Business Week, I wanted to share some statistics that crossed my desk today from MomsRising.org:

For the past several years women have been starting businesses at double the rate of the general American public, and many of these new business owners are women of color.

The fact that women are paid 77 cents to a man's dollar, and moms are paid just 73 cents to a man's dollar is a strong incentive for business ownership.

Majority women-owned businesses:

* Employ 23 million people (16 percent of the workforce, which is nearly double the number of those employed by the 50 biggest companies in the country combined)

* Generate $3 trillion in revenue

* Are more likely to offer supportive, family-friendly benefits like flex-time and profit sharing.

What are we waiting for, moms? Let's dust off those ideas that have been knocking around our heads for years and see what we can do.

Come to our Nov. 3 event and learn how to put those ideas in motion.

I would LOVE to make this event-even though I am promoting a book, don't know if that has the same apporach as some of the ones you listed. I may have speaking engagement that day at an elementary school. Do you have these relatively often? Any boost in information or networking opportunity is always welcomed. :) Thanks a bunch. "What Morning is This?" Mahalia Solages.
My fan page on facebook has all my events-since I'm having such a hard time keeping up with all my other blogs.

I got myself registered!

A good mommy friend of mine saw this in the newspaper, and it is the perfect place to show mommies who want to make a difference, how to save money, and time.

I'm so excited meet the group of mom's associated with this group.

See you soon,

Great, Rachel.
Can't wait to meet you in person!

So many people have registered, I'm looking forward to a great turnout.

I do want to clarify one thing, as someone asked me about it today: This is an adults-only event. It is being held in the Jungle Island ballroom, not the park itself. There will not be child care or children's activities during the workshop.

This is a time to focus on YOU -- and your next big idea.
